Aragorn's Song

I haven't had time to finish the novels I'm reading yet, so here's another poem. It's one of my favorites that Tolkien wrote, and interestingly, he put it in the mouth of Aragorn (from Lord of the Rings), a mighty warrior and would-be king.

"Song of Aragorn"
By J.R.R. Tolkien

All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire will be woken,
A light from the shadows will spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.
